I launched my writing career by creating an online trans media experience for the pop culture smash Teen Wolf. The success of that online experience earned me a Webby Award Honor and a coveted spot in the writers room on the MTV breakout hit show. Often the only woman in the room, I helped craft groundbreaking stories for women in genre television, including the feminist icon Allison Argent. After Teen Wolf, I went on to serve as a writer/producer on Salvation, a sci-fi show for CBS Television and Station 19, one of the latest offerings from Shondaland. Most recently, I served as Co-Executive Producer at Marvel Television for a show on Disney Plus.
As an independent filmmaker, I've directed two short narratives and I've just written the script for my feature film directorial debut. In addition to my own films, I serve as Executive Producer on movies that showcase unique voices and stories. In 2018, my film Jinn launched to critical acclaim at the South by Southwest Film Festival. My next project, Max and Me, is in post-production and will hit the festival circuit later this year.
Along with my work in entertainment, I'm a long-time volunteer policy advocate with CARE, a global anti-poverty agency. Currently, I focus my support on the Azraq Film School, based in the Azraq Refugee Camp housing Syrians in Jordan. Locally, I'm a member of the steering committee of the Think Tank for Inclusion and Equity (TTIE), a consortium of TV writers dedicated to expanding the voice and reach of diverse peoples in the entertainment industry.
