NationsFilm is dedicated to telling stories that entertain, provoke and inspire. We focus on stories that are international in scope or theme and offer messages of hope and spiritual insight.
OK, so I say "we" a lot when discussing NationsFilm, but it's not really a "we." Right now, NationsFilm is just a "me." I'm Angela and I'm from St. Louis, Missouri by way of Atlanta, Georgia. I call Atlanta home.
Atlanta has a thriving community of indie filmmakers, so there are lots of opportunities to get on set and stretch the production legs. I’ve also been able to help with location scouting, casting, set management and other logistical duties.
In January 2007 I directed my first short film, Sleep Keep Wake Take. (I'd written the script a couple of years before that.) The experience was physically, emotionally and financially exhausting. And it was the most fun I’ve ever had!
I started NationsFilm when I began production on that short. I knew it would be the first of many. I came up with the name "NationsFilm" when I asked myself what I was passionate about aside from film. Travel, culture, the betterment of humanity--all these, to me, are the nations. Hence, NationsFilm became the name for this little production company.
In the long term, NationsFilm is intended to be a full-scale production house. I don't want to just produce my own movies. I want to create a platform for up-and-coming filmmakers. Ideally, I’d like to be able to provide low-cost cameras, lighting and other production assistance for those who have great vision and potential, but lack resources. (Make checks payable to NationsFilm. You spell that with a "b" b-i-l-l-i-o-n.)
